Players have been excited to be introduced to a number of new features with the latest Nether Update in Minecraft. Among the new arrivals are certain interesting mobs, including a humanoid race known as the Piglins.

Piglins are notably different from other mobs in the game. Namely, they are more of a “neutral mob”; that is, they are only aggressive towards the player in specific situations.

Piglins also have a penchant for gold and possess a well-developed bartering system that you can use to obtain some cool goodies. In this all-new guide, we will help you understand how to trade with Piglins and prevent them from going off on you.

Turning Piglins into Neutral Mobs

After you have come across a mob of Piglins, you will be able to wisely trade with them for some unique items, including those that are not available elsewhere. Of course, since you are dealing with an entirely new kind of mob, there are certain things you need to learn. And most importantly, certain warnings you need to keep in mind for your safety as well. Although Piglins share a good number of characteristics with the Villagers, they also possess their own special qualities as well.

  • Remember that Pinglins are not usually friendly towards you. If they perceive you as a potential threat, they will attack. In order to avoid this, make sure you have at least one piece of golden armor equipped when you approach them. Avoid any suspicious or violent behavior around them, such as smashing containers, opening chests, or mining for gold. As long as you keep this attitude around them, they will hopefully act neutral towards you.
  • Pinglins have a magpie-like tendency to inquisitively examine and collect all sorts of objects. They are particularly partial towards pork chops and gold nuggets. They collect these objects and squirrel them away in a hidden inventory of theirs. After killing a Pinglin, you might obtain items from their inventory except for the pork chops and gold nuggets.
  • Similar to some other mobs in Minecraft, Pinglins can equip armor and items. They are not exactly the wisest when it comes to choices, though. Instead of paying attention to the quality and power of the item or armor, they simply prefer the ones made of gold.
  • Coming back to Pinglins’ penchant for gold, although they are attracted to almost anything made of gold, they only use gold ingots when it comes to trading. No other golden object will substitute for that, not even gold nuggets. You will only receive items from Pinglins when you use gold ingots to deal with them.

Trading with Pinglins in Minecraft Nether

Well, we have finally arrived at the million-dollar question. How do we trade with Pinglins in Minecraft? Basically, once you are ready, you simply need to throw your gold ingots on the ground and wait. Eventually, a Piglin will pick them up and offer you some items in return. You will not receive a separate menu to deal with them during the barter, unlike in the case of Villagers. Thus, your only choice is to wait for the Piglins to give you something.

Listed below are all the objects and blocks you can receive in the trade from Piglins. You will be able to get a number of them only in this manner. We have marked them as “exclusive” for your convenience.

  • Crying Obsidian (Exclusive) – This is a newly introduced block that you can use to produce a respawn point for the Nether.
  • Ender Pearl – You can use this for teleporting and locating the End by incorporating it into the Eyes of Ender.
  • Fire Charge – You can use this to light fires in the game.
  • Glowstone Dust – You can use this beautifully glowing stone to prepare potions.
  • Gravel – This is a rather unreliable building block that you can use to obtain flint for various tools and arrows.
  • Iron Boots enchanted with Soul Speed (Exclusive) – Their name says it all!
  • Iron Nugget – You can collect these and turn them into an iron ingot.
  • Leather – You can use this to construct low-end armor.
  • Magma Cream – You can use this for preparing potions.
  • Nether Brick– You can combine this to form even more nether bricks.
  • Nether Quartz – As the name suggests, it is decent for building purposes.
  • Netherite Hoe – This can come in handy for farming.
  • Obsidian – This is the hardest block available in Minecraft. You can use it to build nether portals.
  • Potion of Fire Resistance – This drink will prevent you from going up in flames. As an added bonus, it is delicious too!
  • Soul Sand – This block hinders your speed. You can use it to grow a vital ingredient of several potions, nether wart.
  • Soul Speed Enchanted Book (Exclusive) – As the name suggests, this book is enchanted with Soul Speed that will grant you the ability to move swiftly across soul soil and soul sand.
  • Splash Potion of Fire Resistance – Another potion that prevents you from going up in flames.
  • String – You can use this for stringing your fishing rod and bow.

As you can see, there are quite a few items you can only obtain from trading with Pinglins. Although trading with them is definitely risky, it is certainly worth it if you possess a healthy amount of gold ingots. So, we recommend saving up more ingots in order to consider this unique business venture.
