To turn off messages on Instagram 2021, open the app and go to your profile. Tap the menu in the top right corner and select Settings. Scroll down and tap on Push Notifications. Toggle off the switch for Messages.

There is no one definitive way to stop getting Direct Messages on Instagram. You could try blocking certain users or disabling the Direct Message function on your account.

Instagram messages are not private. They are sent through the app as regular messages and can be seen by anyone who has access to your messages.
To restrict messages to only friends on WhatsApp, open the app and go to Settings > Account > Privacy. Under “Who can send me messages?”, select “My contacts only”.
When you send a message to someone on Instagram who doesn’t follow you, your message goes to their “message request” inbox. This is because Instagram assumes that you want to contact them because you’re interested in their account. If the person you messaged doesn’t follow you back, they won’t be able to see your message.
